Answer: I’m a woman with average to small hands and I prefer the Medium to the Small size. I really don’t know glove sizes 8-8.5, but I think you will need at least a large. My husband with small hands would need a large. -

Is the grip area textured?
Answer: Yes it is, but it is not gritty, which I do not care for. Grip is excellent and they fit snuggly so be careful ordering size.
