Toca Doumbeks TO804658 Editorial Review
The Toca SFMTDK-9AB Doumbek Aztec is a budget-friendly drum that offers good quality and sound. It has been praised for its performance at Renaissance festivals and is described as fun to play with a great sound. The adjustable and replaceable synthetic drum head is said to produce an earthy sound and the drum is easy to tune to find the right balance between the bass and high 'can-like' sounds. One reviewer even took off the goatskin head and treated it with coconut oil for a better bass note. However, there are a few downsides to note. The drum in the picture appears to be made of metal, but it is actually made of synthetic PVC material. This may be disappointing for some customers who were expecting a different material. The coating on the drum also makes it slick to hold. Despite these drawbacks, the Toca Doumbek is still Considered a worthwhile purchase for its price and is recommended as a great starter drum.
