Nissin Shoe Mount Flashes i40C Editorial Review
The Nissin i40C Camera flash for Canon is a compact and powerful flash that is compatible with various camera models such as Canon, Fujifilm, Olympus, and Panasonic. It has multiple features such as TTL and manual modes, bounce flash, external and built-in diffusers, and an autofocus assist light. It also has a card for eye catchlights and a beam diffuser. The head can tilt and rotate, but not down. However, the power dial is easily moved, and the dial for TTL and manual controls has too much play. The flash can work in HSS mode and will work with Fujifilm X-T1 and XE-2. The flash is not compatible with off-camera TTL, HSS, etc. for X-T1, but firmware to support these features is coming out in December 2015. The flash mount is substantial enough, but the quality of parts and Construction feels brittle and crude, and the battery door always feels like it is about to break. Customers who have used it for extended periods experience overheating, malfunctions, and dim light output. However, it is still a valuable option for a compact flash with various features and is useful for light usage or events.
