Answer: The AFVK-SP is designed for use with gas log sets ranging from 18 to 30 inches. -

Are conversion kits available for propane gas?
Answer: Yes, optional propane gas conversion kits (LPK-18 or LPK-24) are available for the AFVK-SP. -
Question:
If I understand correctly, this kit would allow me to use a single button remote and never worry about gas leaks?
Answer: If installed correctly, yes. Test for leaks in line like any other gas hook-up. We love ours going on the third year. You can use with or without standing pilot. -
Question:
Can these wires be that close to the flame? Melt? Does it control flame? Do I keep gas valve on entire time?
Answer: Yes, it is a spark-to-pilot that only lights when you wish to use the fireplace and it does control flame. If you are referring to a manual ball valve, yes you can leave the valve open at all times. -
Question:
Can I use this kit with a 22' pan burner with fire glass?
Answer: The size of the fireplace is the important thing. This unit sits next to the pan. Is there room to fit it next to the pan and still center the 22 in pan in the fireplace. Fire glass works fine. -
Question:
Will this work on a Heat N Glo fireplace?
Answer: This safety pilot kit is intended for use with vented gas logs and not with a manufactured fireplace. Any glass doors must be open during use, and it is compatible with 18' to 30' wide log sets. -
Question:
Will this work with propane as well?
Answer: Yes, but you will have to remove the natural gas pilot orifice from the pilot assembly, then replace with the propane pilot orifice supplied with AFVK-SPPilot-60 extension kit and reconnect the1/8' pilot tubing to pilot assembly. There are installation instructions included on how to do so. If you have additional questions please let us know and we will be happy to help.
